We’re excited to share some great news from our members in YVR; the launch of the Unifor YVR Recreation Committee! This new initiative is dedicated to planning inclusive, engaging events that bring members together, build connection, and foster community outside of the workplace.
A special thank-you goes to Elaine Keras, Unifor Local 531 Executive Board Member and Trustee, whose passion and leadership helped bring this committee to life. Elaine now serves as the Executive Board Liaison to the committee, supporting the team in coordinating events that reflect our values of solidarity, wellness, and fun.

First Event: Samosa Sale Fundraiser – Raised $400!
The committee hosted its first official event with a samosa sale to raise funds for future social events and it was a huge success!
Samosas were sold for $2.00 each, and thanks to the amazing support from members, the committee raised $400 to help fund upcoming activities.
Special thanks to Prabh who arranged the delicious samosas, Chris who set up the event and made sure everything ran smoothly and Elaine who worked the table and sold every last samosa!
A heartfelt thank-you to all three for their time and effort and to everyone who stopped by to support. What a fantastic way to kick off the committee’s work!
What’s Next?
With momentum building, the committee is already planning a summer family BBQ at Gary Point Park in Richmond on August 8. Keep an eye on your emails for more information.
