The nomination period for the Unifor Local 531 Elections Committee has now closed. We’d like to thank those who stepped forward and expressed interest in supporting our union’s democratic process.
Unfortunately, we did not receive any nominations from YVR or YYZ. In YYC, two nominations were submitted, but only one nominee accepted. As a result, that member has been acclaimed to the position.
To ensure balanced representation from all bases, the Executive Board will proceed with appointing one member from both YVR and YYZ to serve on the committee. These appointments will help maintain fairness and integrity throughout the election process.
All committee members will participate in training in early September in preparation for the upcoming election in October.
The Elections Committee plays a vital role in overseeing nominations and elections within our local. We thank these members for stepping up and look forward to supporting them as they carry out their important duties.
