Every year, no later than September 1, the Company must post a copy of the seniority list on the Company's internal SharePoint for all members to view. This year, the list will be posted on August 25, 2025, and will remain open for review until September 30, 2025.
Your Responsibility
It is each member’s responsibility to review the list and ensure your bargaining unit seniority is correctly reflected. If you believe there is a discrepancy in your seniority, you must submit a written request for review to BOTH:
The deadline to submit your request is September 30, 2024. Please note that due to scheduled vacation time, responses may not be immediate, but all inquiries will be addressed.
With the integration of Ramp Service Agents and Ramp Service Coordinators into the Bargaining Unit on March 1, 2025 any member who previously held these 2 specific roles and moved into a different role (in the Bargaining Unit), before March 1 may not see their correct continuous seniority reflected on the Master Seniority List. You must submit your dispute as early as possible, following the submission instructions provided above.
Why Seniority Matters
- Schedule bidding and changes
- Shift extensions
- Company-offered VTO before schedule build or statutory holidays
- Removal of shifts from the pool
- Awarding voluntary unpaid personal leaves
- Filing vacancies
- Vacation bidding and awards
- Layoffs and recall
Why is there a Master Seniority List?
The Collective Agreement requires that all members covered under it are placed on a single, unified seniority list. This is important because:
- One bargaining unit – Even though our members are spread across Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto, we are all part of the same bargaining unit. Seniority rights apply to everyone equally, regardless of location.
- Fairness and transparency – A master list ensures there is no confusion or unequal treatment between bases. Everyone’s seniority is tracked and applied consistently across the country.
- Movement between locations – If a member transfers from one base to another, their seniority follows them. Having one master list prevents disputes about where they “rank” after moving.
- Application of rights – Seniority affects many rights under the CBA (vacation awards, layoffs and recalls, schedule bidding, shift extensions, etc.). A unified list ensures these processes are based on the same standard for all members.
